Ocean Coordination Mechanism

 

The Ocean Coordination Mechanism (OCM) was launched by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO. This initiative aims to address the critical challenges facing marine environments in the Caribbean and the North Brazil Shelf. Financial Sustainability of OCM

• The OCM has secured an initial investment of $15 million from the Global Environment Facility.

• However, this funding is less than other global conservation initiatives, raising concerns about the OCM’s ability to meet its ambitious goals.
